Why is staying hydrated so important, especially for an active person? Well, as you know, staying hydrated can prevent getting headaches and feeling hungry all the time, BUT, you may not know that it can also protect your teeth.
While you workout your body gets dehydrated and so your mouth begins to dry up. This results in the chemical components of saliva to change and become more alkaline, which means the pH level increases. When this happens, it increases the chance for tartar plaques and other teeth problems to occur. A simple way to prevent this from happening is to fill up your water bottle before and during a long workout! I absolutely hate going to the dentist, so my water bottle is always full when I’m at the gym.
