Don’t forget to stretch!

Let’s talk about stretching! 😀 It is very important to stretch after exercising, especially running and weight training. When you run your hamstrings can become very tight, so in order to prevent lower back pain or other problem areas, you need to stretch it out after a run. Weight training can cause the muscle to shorten, which results in the tightness of your muscles, so in order to help the muscles recover you must stretch them out. 🙂

Why should you stretch? 

  • Release tension in tight muscles
  • Become more flexible
  • Improve your range of motion
  • Decrease stiffness in muscles
  • Can reduce your risk of injury

Here are some stretches that you can do after exercising!

So remember to take care of your muscles and joints by stretching! 🙂 Yoga and Pilates are both very good classes to join if you have tightness or any discomfort in your muscles/joints. The class instructors will be able to help you to figure out if you need to go to a physiotherapist or if you just need to stretch more 🙂
